Field Trip Report–Hanging Rock/Nundle 12/10/14
Attending: Mick, John M, John H, Maureen, Terry & Eric. We meet at the Uralla Tourist Info Centre at 8am, travelled via Walcha to Hanging Rock. John Mason encountered car drama on the way with a flat tyre. On arrival at our destina-tion, Zircon Gully was investigated as our newer members hadn’t been there. Then we headed up the hill past the Rip’n’Tear Gold mine to the old orchard for Copralites where everyone found some good specimens. We then went to Oakenville Creek where we found Prase and Serpentine specimens, some very large! After lunch we went to Look-out Road where clear Quartz crystals were found here. Next a Fire Trail was investigated for Quartz with Chlorite but none were located, however we did find very good quality Serpentine. A good day was had by all and we headed for home via Nemingha and Moonbi to avoid the dirt roads. Mick
