Cox’s Dump, Stannifer, Mt Topper, Inverell
Sunday 13th April, 2014

Attending:- John Hogbin, Maureen, Trish, Terry and Noah, Kerry and Mick. Met at 9 am at Tingha Police Station, viewed the very large Tingha Crystal on display in the main street. Met up with an acquaintance of Kerry & Micks who invited the group to view their collection after the days fossicking. Headed to Old Inverell Airport site where several impressive Citrine crystals were found along with many good sized quartz crystals. Lunch at Mt Topper and then some digging. Unfortunately this site did not yield much at all so the group headed off to Stannifer but the creek was too high to allow access. Trish showed us an area off  Old Armidale Road where we did some specking by the roadside. Here we found some very nice clear quartz crystals before heading back to Mr & Mrs Fenton’s home at Tingha where  we viewed one of the most diverse and spectacular collections that most of us had ever seen. It truly had to be seen to be believed.  ...Mick
